Ok these pictures bring tears to my eyes. I was the heaviest I have ever been in my whole life after giving birth to my 4th child. I found as I had each one of my beautiful girls it was harder and harder to loose weight. I am thankful I had each one of them no matter what. I also found with the last pregnancy I was having some major health problems. Diabetes was at my door step and making me feel horrible. So after seeing some pictures of me at my daughters baptism I could not believe my eyes....I did not look like ME. I decided I had to change my habits. In January of 2007 I decided to make a lifestyle change. I decidied first to change my eating habits to lean meats, lots of fruit and veggies, low fat dairy, and whole grains. Ater I lost about 10 lbs ...I felt enough energy to start going for walks out in the neighborhood. This exercise really paid off. Then when winter hit I decided to work out in our apartments workout room. At first I just rode the bike and walked on the treadmill. Then one day I decided to do 10 reps on the weight machine and free weights. After doing weight training and my walking 2 miles a day I noticed I seemed to feel even better and stronger. A few weeks into weight training I tried running on the tread mill just one lap....to my surprise I held out the whole lap. ( I used to be in cross country and track in high school...yes I ran long distance.) So running felt like it was in my future again, but just a little at a time. So about 3 months ago I started running 2-3 miles a work out plus weight training, warm up and cool down. This journey has taken 1year and 4 months. When I started I was a size 18 and now I can wear a size 6 comfortably. I was just above 175lbs and now I'm a hair above 135lbs. I will continue to eat healthy and exercise for the rest of my life I hope. I feel at my best when I take care of my health and I hope my example will stay with my girls to live a healthy life.
*Sometimes I even have some ice cream, cake, or other treats. But now instead of eating way to much I try and eat it in moderation.
I'm so thankful for all my friends and family who have loved and supported me in my new lifestyle.
