Monday welcomes....

Motivational Mondays
sorry about missing last week
it was such a busy week
and
FUN!!!
So today I thought I would spend some time writing about HOBBIES.
I love doing my hobbies my top 3 hobbies are 1. Scrapbooking, 2. Quilting, and 3. Sign launguage and my #4. is a new one... EXERCISING ... I think working on our hobbies is a great way for us to enjoy life and sometimes they can be relaxing. There have been times in my life that I have not had time to work on hobbies because of being sick, new babies, moving, or not enough space to pull them out. Recently I have pulled out some of my hobbies to start working on them again and to finish up some unfinshed work. Hobbies can be a great way to destress and spend sometime thinking about life. We all need time even if it is 15 minutes to do something other than out normal day to day schedules. It is important to develope our talents and practice them and then share them with others. We can develope new talents by learning other talents from a friend or taking a class at a community center or community college. We can also learn new talents by reading books or on the internet and then studying that subject and then practicing what we have learned. After we learn a new talent we should spend time developing it or like me maybe you don't have the time right now in your life, but later in life you can pick it back up when you find the time and practice it again. We should share our talents to bless others. We can do this by teaching a friend or a class, donating our iteams that we have made to a place in need, teaching our children, or you could volunteer in a school, church, or shelter to teach others. Also remember have FUN with your talents. Our talents can bless our lives and our homes. I thought I would just share some pictures of the quilt that I started before I had Mackenzie and I recently pulled it out to finish it. I am almost done and then I am decorating my bathroom in light houses and this will be a wall hanging for the light house bathroom. A room dedicated to our families love for the pacific northwest and the beautiful beaches of that area.

This is the frame I use to hand quilt and then I will bind it with the over lapping material from the back of the quilt.

If you click on the photo and enlarge you can see the hand quilted stitches. I drew my own pattern for this quilt and the pattern is clouds and ocean waves.
A sweet sister in my Long Beach, Washington branch taught us a class on the strip quilt and this is what I picked as my materials. It is a lot of fun cordinating colors with materials and then creating something beautiful. I am so glad to finally be almost done with this, so I can hang it up. I hope everyone has a wonderful week and don't forget if you have some time to pull out a unfinished project and work on it or learn a new hobbie that you have been wanting to learn. It is refreshing to create something or learn something new. Have a Happy Week!
